This is a full bodied, powerful red. It has a really heady aroma, with strong red fruit and berry notes on the nose and palate. Hint of spice. It has some of the port characteristics one would expect of a wine from the Douro region. The finish is pleasantly dry with quite a bit of tannin. I had a little sediment when I poured straight from the bottle with an aerator, so this is probably worth decanting.

This is a punchy high alcohol wine that is best drunk with food, particularly red meats (I had a T Bone steak, but I will have this again with beef casseroles). Perhaps a bit heavy for the summer months, but one to keep on your side for when the weather turns a bit colder in a few months.

Another very decent value wine from the lads at Drink Portugal. A very solid 4 stars from me
